Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. My name is Nita and the focus of this blog is about my son DeAndre, affectionately known as the lil man to our family. He was first diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3 1/2. The diagnosis at that time read… ASD PDD-NOS. He went again for another evaluation just last year with the new format and received a diagnosis that read… Autism Level 2. (basically the same thing).
He is a bright fun loving little boy who loves to give hugs and kisses with lots of energy…did I mention he has ADHD also. He has a passion for race cars and the noises they make. So you can imagine my home is filled with plenty of toy cars which he loves to line up over and over again. He also has plenty of racing car games for his PS4. As well he turns himself into a human race car daily, sound effects and all. He can go for hours making those sounds. It used to drive me crazy but I have learned to tune it out and just let him be.
I didn’t know what autism was until DeAndre got his diagnosis. The idea that something was wrong with my child was hard for me to accept in the beginning. I admit I was in denial. I just couldn’t face the fact that something was wrong with my child, my baby. But now I am in full acceptance and I wouldn’t know what to do if he were to change. It just wouldn’t be the same around here. This is all about DeAndre.
There will always be those good, bad and ugly days and I’m here for them all.
